Like the other commandments, this is about helping us rather than ego. If God is number one in our lives, then we aren't going to fall into traps that can come from putting anything else first. We avoid selfishness, addiction, lust, greed... and we learn at the feet of the Master everything that we need for eternal life. Today, let's remember that becoming sincere and dedicated followers of God and making his priorities our priorities is the very best thing that we can do with our lives and our hearts... best for us, best for God, best for the world. It's the only true "everybody wins" choice out there. :)
