"And he put garrisons in Edom; throughout all Edom put he garrisons, and all they of Edom became David’s servants. And the Lord preserved David whithersoever he went.
And David reigned over all Israel; and David executed judgment and justice unto all his people."
2 Samuel 8:14-15
In this selection, the Lord preserving David seems to make perfect sense since he delivers justice and judgement. I think it is important to tie those things together, because it isn't about luck or favor... it is about doing the will of the Lord and doing good.
Today, let's remember that blessings are tied to our service and help, and let's remember and commit to do good, to help people, and to make the world a better place. Let's not fall into the trap of prosperity and complacency and forget where our blessings come from. Let's turn to the Lord and listen to his direction.
