Mark 10:24 -- On Objects of Trust

"And the disciples were astonished at his words. But Jesus answereth again, and saith unto them, Children, how hard is it for them that trust in riches to enter into the kingdom of God!"
Mark 10:24

Trusting in riches is part of the pride cycle, that endless loop of being righteous, prospering, forgetting God and trusting in our prosperity, and then not prospering. Behind it I think it is because God isn't the object of our trust anymoe. Instead it is money, or ourselves, because when things are going well, we think we don't need God. ... And yet we do, and when things start falling apart, we remember that.

Today, let's make sure our trust is in the Lord. Let's break the cycle, and humble ourselves, trusting in God, no matter how many blessings we have. He is the way and the truth, and even at our very best, we still need his help. Let's make sure that is our center.
