Psalms 86:3-5 -- On Prayer

"Be merciful unto me, O Lord: for I cry unto thee daily.
Rejoice the soul of thy servant: for unto thee, O Lord, do I lift up my soul.
For thou, Lord, art good, and ready to forgive; and plenteous in mercy unto all them that call upon thee."
Psalms 86:3-5

This is kind of a cool prayer. This part of it asks for mercy and joy and forgiveness, and also promises continued prayer, dedication, and belief. And while prayer is probably not enough alone to save us, I think it is implied that there is also actual listening and doing coming out of that as well. Prayer is powerful, and if we are willing to listen and to act on our communication with the Lord, prayer is the beginning of learning to feel the spirit and developing a relationship with God, and getting to know how he works.

Today, let's cry unto the Lord and learn how to tap into that source for mercy, joy, and forgiveness. Let's maintain that connection with God, and continue to learn as we develop that communication.
