1 Nephi 8:26-27 -- On Being Cool or Chosen

"And I also cast my eyes round about, and beheld, on the other side of the river of water, a great and spacious building; and it stood as it were in the air, high above the earth.
And it was filled with people, both old and young, both male and female; and their manner of dress was exceedingly fine; and they were in the attitude of mocking and pointing their fingers towards those who had come at and were partaking of the fruit."
1 Nephi 8:26-27

I think it is important to remember the people in the great and spacious building, because we have to know that it's okay not to be the "cool" people in the way that the world might seem to value things. Dressing up and going to the elite party just to mock others shouldn't be part of the playlist for the children of God, and it is totally okay if we aren't invited.

God's cool, or chosen, people will be the ones that are encouraging people to stay on the path, to experience the joy and love of God and realize that it is better (and cooler) than hanging out in the great and spacious building. Today, let's remember not to mock, and not to worry if we are the object of mockery for following the Lord. Let's instead embrace being God's "peculiar people" (Deuteronomy 14:2, Titus 2:14, etc.).
