Jacob 1:5 -- On Faith and Anxiety

"For because of faith and great anxiety, it truly had been made manifest unto us concerning our people, what things should happen unto them."
Jacob 1:5

It is interesting here that the word "anxiety" is used as part of the reason for God revealing the future, but it makes sense that God would help ease our minds about the things that are stressing us out.

In the New Testament it tells us that "the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus" (Philippians 4:7).  I like that it mentions hearts and minds, because that touches our emotional and intellectual sources of stress.

I think that the general message here is that God cares about our stress and anxiety just as much as he does about our physical and spiritual wellbeing.  He wants us to be okay and calm and at peace, and he helps us to know that things are going to be okay in the future, eventually, and promises us that happy ending, even when he also lets us know that it isn't yet. :)

Today, let's have faith along with any existing anxiety, and ask God to help us to feel calmer and better about the future.  He can, and will, speak peace to our hearts and our minds as we look to him for help.
