Luke 8:15
This is just a little bit of the parable of the sower, where the sower cast the seeds and waited to see whether they would grow, as symbolic of who would follow God and accept his gospel. This verse stood out to me today because it reminds me that even though there are a lot of ways to reject the gospel, it is also very important not just to accept it and plan it in our hearts, but to go further and live it, with patience.
We fall into both of those traps at times I think... either thinking that as long as we believe it, it doesn't really matter if we live it... that we'll shape up eventually, or we expect the gospel on our terms and timing, rather than waiting on the Lord and trusting his timing.
Those things are sometimes difficult to overcome, but they are also part of making the gospel come alive in our lives... we need to encourage the seeds in our lives rather than just making sure they stay alive.
Today, let's go beyond just being good ground to being good gardeners in our own hearts, helping that plant of the gospel to flourish. :) Let's have patience and live what we believe, sticking with God through every weed and drought.
