D&C 123:16-17 -- On Small Steps Leading to Salvation

"You know, brethren, that a very large ship is benefited very much by a very small helm in the time of a storm, by being kept workways with the wind and the waves.
Therefore, dearly beloved brethren, let us cheerfully do all things that lie in our power; and then may we stand still, with the utmost assurance, to see the salvation of God, and for his arm to be revealed."
Doctrine and Covenants 123:16-17

I like the idea here that small things make a difference.  The saints at the time were facing some huge challenges that they couldn't solve, but they resolved to do what they could... and these verses are telling us that whatever effort we are able to make is enough, even if we can't solve the problem but only plan to avoid it as much as we can.  God will take care of the rest, in his way and according to his timing, but we can be confident that things will work out as long as we stick with God and do what we can, even when it seems woefully inadequate. :)

All of us are going to need God's help to be saved, so let's not freak out when we can't handle everything at once. :)  ... Today, let's trust in the Lord and "do all things that lie in our power," confident that the Lord will help it all work out right in the end.
