Proverbs 16:32

"He that is slow to anger is better than the mighty; and he that ruleth his spirit than he that taketh a city."
Proverbs 16:32

I thought that this was kind of a weird comparison, until of course I thought more about it. :)  It's a strength comparison.  When you can control your emotions, you are stronger than anyone who only has physical strength... and when you can rule yourself completely then you are much more powerful than any army.  This, of course, isn't to say that we should stifle emotion or reject our feelings.  Only that we should be in control of our outpourings of emotion.  we should be able to cry when we are sad, laugh when we are happy, and feel emotions appropriately in all cases... but we should be in control of them, and not they in control of us.  God knows that it is hard... and here he shows us that it is harder in many ways than acquiring physical strength, or even leading an army... but important, and worth it.
