Zephaniah 1:7 -- On the Lord's Guests

"Hold thy peace at the presence of the Lord God: for the day of the Lord is at hand: for the Lord hath prepared a sacrifice, he hath bid his guests."
Zephaniah 1:7

It talks in these verses about the destruction of Jerusalem, which is also symbolic of the second coming, so the two ideas/events are mixed together here. This verse in particular reminded me of the parable of the ten virgins. Leading up to this it doesn't sound like anyone is going to survive, but then here we are reminded that the Lord has invited us to dinner on this night. And if we are watching and waiting for his return, then we will be invited in before the door is shut, which at least in the context of this chapter seems to mean the burning of everything (as in the allegory of the olive trees as well--the season and the end.).

Today, let's make sure we are diligently watching and waiting and communicating with God, prepared as only he can prepare us, for his coming.
