"And there were no envyings, nor strifes, nor tumults, nor whoredoms, nor lyings, nor murders, nor any manner of lasciviousness; and surely there could not be a happier people among all the people who had been created by the hand of God."
4 Nephi 1:16
It's interesting here that we're shown happiness by the lack of certain things rather than the presence of certain things. I think it shows just how much freedom and joy that God offers us just by promising us a better world, free of strife. Now, of course, we don't inherit that world in our sins. We have to be willing to repent and change into the type of person that could live there... one that doesn't create strife, for instance, but it's also not something we have to be perfect at immediately. God is willing to take the time to teach us and help us get there, as long as we are willing to change.
Today, let's not look for happiness in acquisitiveness or cool toys, but instead aim for a better world, and work on being better people.
