"Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin."
John 8:34
Sin is a trap. It's why God warns us against it... because sin ensnares us and challenges our priorities and our devotion. Sin can deceive us because we want what it promises, even though it can't actually deliver happiness or peace or maintain anything else for very long. Those things come from God, and there isn't another path. All roads to eternal joy go through Jesus Christ.
Today, let's avoid the snares and walk in God's path. Improving ourselves does require effort, but it is worthwhile as we grow into people that we like better and that we want to be... an investment in eternity, which we wouldn't have without the atonement. Let's take a step away from sin and towards God, even if it is just a little one. God can help us keep moving.
