"Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded."
James 4:8
This sounds like a rebuke, and so it is, but I think also some great advice. It can be hard to cleanse our hands and purify our hearts, and part of that is thinking that God should come close to us without us having to do anything... without asking, without seeking, and without any actual effort on our parts. The scary thing is that it is never God that has moved. It is always ourselves that have drifted away from him, forgetting to pray, or study, or make the effort to know Him.
Today, let's cleanse our hands and work on purifying our hearts. Let's seek God, and put forth the effort to draw near to God, and as we do, He will be there when we seek him sincerely. Let's stay focused on him and not let other things cloud our way.
