"Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up,
Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil;"
1 Corinthians 13:4-5
What struck me today is the "not easily provoked" part of love. That's hard sometimes, especially with people who know exactly how to push your buttons, but God can help us to perhaps have fewer buttons, or to be able to take a step back and make sure we are seeing things from the other person's perspective and not misinterpreting a sincere message.
I also kind of like that it says "easily" provoked. God isn't asking us to never stand up for ourselves or ignore it when wrongs need to be righted and we can legitimately do something about it, but he is asking us to chill a little and stop allowing little things to get in the way of doing good. Today, let's work on not being easily provoked, and with God's help, keeping our cool, and moving forward, loving and doing good to everyone.
