"And now if ye are not the sheep of the good shepherd, of what fold are ye? Behold, I say unto you, that the devil is your shepherd, and ye are of his fold; and now, who can deny this? Behold, I say unto you, whosoever denieth this is a liar and a child of the devil.
For I say unto you that whatsoever is good cometh from God, and whatsoever is evil cometh from the devil."
Alma 5:39-40
I like the simplicity of this... and it *is* simple in many cases, although we often complicate it in our minds thinking that we have other choices, like sitting on the fence or going off on our own. The truth though is that if we are walking away from God, we are always walking towards the devil.
Of course sometimes the choices are between good and good, and we still have to make choices, with God's help to choose what is the correct choice between good choices, like choosing a job or a house, etc. Even then, though, staying close to God and feeling his Spirit in our lives is the best way to be sure that we are choosing wisely.
Today, let's be part of God's fold, remembering that he is the source of all good, and remembering to seek his help in all that we do. As we pray and study and learn of him, and choose to put him first, we will learn more about ourselves and the choices that will lead us closer to God and closer to our best selves.
