Alma 5:27 -- On Humility and Redemption

"Have ye walked, keeping yourselves blameless before God? Could ye say, if ye were called to die at this time, within yourselves, that ye have been sufficiently humble? That your garments have been cleansed and made white through the blood of Christ, who will come to redeem his people from their sins?"
Alma 5:27

This is a sort of scary question to ask yourself, but maybe a good one, as long as it motivates rather than overwhelms. God doesn't want us to give up hope, for sure, but I think he does want us to feel that desire to be better, to do better, and to want to be the type of person that isn't ashamed to come before God. And as we pray and work with God to improve, we can learn that desire and have confidence that we're on the same page with God. Not that we're perfect, but that we are working with God to improve and do better, which is the point... and working with God means at least that we are humble enough to listen to him, and to follow him, which I think is the point of the verse.

Today, let's work on walking God's path in humility and cleanliness, and trust in Christ to help us to have the hope and faith to improve. :)
