Job 37:14

"Hearken unto this, O Job: stand still, and consider the wondrous works of God."
Job 37:14

The footnote to this scripture directs us also to Psalms 46:10 (Be still and know that I am God...).  I like the idea here... to know who God is, to know his works.  Sometimes life seems complicated and pretty harsh, and we're so caught up trying to handle all the things that are thrown at us, that we never stop, to "smell the roses" as they say, or to contemplate God and all that we really have to be grateful for.  Job was in an impossible situation... he was being righteous and still everything bad that could happen to him did... and this was some good advice for him, just as it is for us.  Sometimes we need to just stop... wherever we are, and remember the amazingness of God.  All that he is, all that he has made, and all that he does for us *every* day.  Plus, it has the side benefit of bringing us closer to God... which is always good, for our souls, and for help with whatever we're doing.  Today, let's stop for a minute.  Stand still (or sit still), and really commune with God.  Consider all that he is, all that he does, and then, after we take some time and drink it in a little... let's chat with him about what is going on right now in our lives.  He wants to hear about it, and he wants to help.  Let's take that step and ask for his influence and his help in our lives.
