"For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit.
For the body is not one member, but many.
If the foot shall say, Because I am not the hand, I am not of the body; is it therefore not of the body?"
1 Corinthians 12:13-15
I like the idea of everyone having a place and a reason. The context is talking about spiritual gifts, but I think it goes farther than that and hooks into the whole idea of oneness and unity. Like a boty had parts, but is one whole, so is the church, and so is a family, and perhaps with God, so is all of creation. We're not interchangable parts, but unique and valuable, and we all have a place with God as part of his family, and he knows us and loves us individually. I think it is hard to visualize that idea sometimes because as weak humans we don't have many good examples of that kind of Love... but it is the best part of all of the gospel and the plan and eternity... that love that God has for us which makes us belong to him, and each other, and a greater whole.
Today, let's remember that we are all part of God's family, and in this life together, to help each other and to accomplish a lot of good. Let's jump in as the Lord wills, and help each other do great things. :)
