"Wherefore, the prophets, and the priests, and the teachers, did labor diligently, exhorting with all long-suffering the people to diligence; teaching the law of Moses, and the intent for which it was given; persuading them to look forward unto the Messiah, and believe in him to come as though he already was. And after this manner did they teach them."

I like the idea here of thinking of the things that God has promised as though they already are... that's a very faithful form of certainty in the word of God. For us, the event that they were looking forward to has already come, but we can look forward to Christ's Second Coming in the same way. Believing in it as though it was already here. Living the way that we would live in his presence, loving others and helping to care for all those around us. Today, let's live as though God were here with us, trusting that he will solve the big problems and learning to live with and love our fellow beings in a better society. He will come and make all things right. Let's be ready for that, and learn from that feeling of having him close.
