"There is that scattereth, and yet increaseth; and there is that withholdeth more than is meet, but it tendeth to poverty.
The liberal soul shall be made fat: and he that watereth shall be watered also himself.
He that withholdeth corn, the people shall curse him: but blessing shall be upon the head of him that selleth it.
He that diligently seeketh good procureth favour: but he that seeketh mischief, it shall come unto him."
Proverbs 11:24-27
I like the idea of scattering, yet increasing here... like scattering seeds, and being generous with others. I also like the contrast between good and mischief, which brings to mind things like scamming others or writing ransomware and things like that. God tells us that mischief will come to mischief, just like good will come to good. Now of course that doesn't mean that we can't repent of mischief, or that if we do good that we won't have trials... but overall, as we see throughout the scriptures, when we do good, things go well, and when we tip over into pride and treating others as enemies, or trying to play king of the hill, then things don't go well.
Today, let's work on being generous and good, so that God can bless us, and we will have the Spirit with us to support us in our trials.
