"And now, in your epistle you have censured me, but it mattereth not; I am not angry, but do rejoice in the greatness of your heart. I, Pahoran, do not seek for power, save only to retain my judgment-seat that I may preserve the rights and the liberty of my people. My soul standeth fast in that liberty in the which God hath made us free."
Alma 61:9
I like the idea here that God is the one that grants us freedom and liberty. In context, Pahoran is telling Moroni of a rebellion where a part of the people are trying to set up a king to rule them, and joining in an agreement with the Lamanites to overthrow their whole society. Pahoran is asking Moroni to help him try to stop it. Even though Pahoran is the elected governor of the land, he doesn't get angry at Moroni's complaints, but just tells him what is going on and asks for help.
Today, let's remember humility and the source of our goodness and freedom. Let's be willing to ask for help and to work to bring to pass God's will rather than trying to defend our own pride. :) Let's work with God to support liberty for everyone.
