"For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die.
But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us."
Romans 5:7-8
I like the idea here of Christ saving us even though there was nothing in it for him, at least in terms of getting gain or power or position or powerful allies... reasons that people in the world might have for such action. It wasn't for him, but for us, to give us a chance to change and do better. Kind of the opposite of modern media where the hero in the movie dies to protect the innocent or the good... he died for us, when we were neither innocent nor good.
Today, let's remember Christ's love for us, and his willingness to suffer for our sakes, to give us a chance at a better world, and a better self. Let's honor that sacrifice and love, and work with God as he supports and helps us to change for the better.
