Psalms 86:11-12 -- On United, Whole Hearts

"Teach me thy way, O Lord; I will walk in thy truth: unite my heart to fear thy name.
I will praise thee, O Lord my God, with all my heart: and I will glorify thy name for evermore."
Psalms 86:11-12

It's interesting here that the psalm is asking God to unite the heart, and also mentions praising God with all of the heart. I think this points to our hearts being divided in this life, pulled in at least two directions, the spiritual and the physical, and perhaps more, as God and Satan influence us in different directions. We're fickle and changeable, and God, who is neither, is the source that we can look to for stability and help with uniting our own desires, and being able to find righteous ways to build up our spirits and our bodies into a united whole. Today, let's look to God for an example and power in unity, not only getting on the same page with God, or with others in working for a greater good, but also within ourselves as we try to sort out who we are, and help our spirits shine through and not get overwhelmed with the physical distractions.
