"The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly."
John 10:10
Christ is talking about himself as the good shepherd here, and I love the idea that we are God's, and he will never take advantage of us, harm us, or even just neglect us. He is the one whose job, and joy, it is to love and care for us, and he wants us to not only just survive, or endure, but thrive and be happy. Everything that he does is designed for our good.
Today, let's remember that, and trust God, turning to him when we need help and relying on his advice, rather than prioritizing the voices of others or even ourselves. We don't always know what is good for us as well as God does, and doing things his way will always work out better in the end, even if it takes us a while to understand why. As we choose God, we choose a better, more abundant, life. :)
