"The wicked in his pride doth persecute the poor: let them be taken in the devices that they have imagined.
For the wicked boasteth of his heart’s desire, and blesseth the covetous, whom the Lord abhorreth."
Psalms 10:2-3
I think God has some pretty appropriate punishments, giving us back what we give out... if that is goodness, then we get goodness back, but if it is treachery or wickedness, then that is also what we will recieve. I think it is something that we need to be careful of, because too often we lean towards imaginations that we might not think of as wicked, but which fit the definition here... ones that might involve putting our heart's desire before someone else's, especially God's, and where the plan might unfortunately involve wealth and covetousness and taking advantage of the poor.
Let's make sure that on a personal or a professional level, we aren't involving ourselves with things that are going to return "devices" back to us that are not things that we prefer to imagine in our own lives. Let's consider eternity and "think celestial" as President Nelson advised today, making sure that we're putting God's ways first, and specifically being careful not to "put a stumblingblock or an occasion to fall in [ano]ther’s way" (Romans 14:13).
