Alma 37:35 -- On Learning Wisdom in Our Youth

"O, remember, my son, and learn wisdom in thy youth; yea, learn in thy youth to keep the commandments of God."
Alma 37:35

What struck me about this today is the thought of learning in our youth.  As we get older I think that we probably all collect some regrets, and one of the general things that we regret is the way that we spent our time, or missed opportunities.  Learning to keep the commandments of God is a *great* way to prevent some serious regret when it comes to God.

That doesn't mean that repentance is pointless at all.  Repentance is a real and beautiful gift, and it can restore us to perfect cleanliness and hope.  It unfortunately won't give us back years of our lives or let us live them over again, making better choices.  And *that* is why we should probably learn some wisdom as quick as we can. :)

Today, let's start learning (or continue learning) to keep the commandments of God.  Once we get that touch of wisdom we can see so clearly that God isn't restricting us.  Rather, he is protecting us and helping us avoid the huge pitfalls of life.  The more we listen to him, the less painful it has to be.  ... And that's some wisdom right there.  Let's try to listen and learn and love, and limit the damage from our rebelliousness as much as possible. :)
