"But verily I say unto you, that I, the Lord, will contend with Zion, and plead with her strong ones, and chasten her until she overcomes and is clean before me.
For she shall not be removed out of her place. I, the Lord, have spoken it. Amen."
Doctrine and Covenants 90:36-37
I like the idea here that God isn't going to give up, but persevere until Zion becomes clean. Even though the chastening sounds difficult and probably painful, isn't that what we all want--for God to keep at it, to keep helping us and teaching us until we finally get it, and are worthy to enter his kingdom? This is about a collective group rather than an individual, but it works for us as members of that group as well. As long as we don't stop trying, God will keep working with us and helping us to overcome.
Today, let's renew our determination to do God's will and to repent and change for the better. Let's lift others with a good example and hope for the future, and trust that God will not give up on us as long as we stick with him and keep trying.
