"And I give unto you a commandment that you shall teach one another the doctrine of the kingdom.
Teach ye diligently and my grace shall attend you, that you may be instructed more perfectly in theory, in principle, in doctrine, in the law of the gospel, in all things that pertain unto the kingdom of God, that are expedient for you to understand;
Of things both in heaven and in the earth, and under the earth; things which have been, things which are, things which must shortly come to pass; things which are at home, things which are abroad; the wars and the perplexities of the nations, and the judgments which are on the land; and a knowledge also of countries and of kingdoms—
That ye may be prepared in all things when I shall send you again to magnify the calling whereunto I have called you, and the mission with which I have commissioned you."
Doctrine and Covenants 88:77-80
I like the idea here that God wants us to learn it all... theory, principle, doctrine, law, heaven and earth, countries, kingdoms, perplexities, judgements... it's so much, but as far as it pertains to the kingdom of God, it's something to learn. Even war, which can definitely relate to faith and defense of home and family as we learn in the many war chapters of the Book of Mormon.
I do think this excludes some things. We don't need to learn evil and do a deep dive into ways of committing sin. We'll learn more than enough of that as we encounter it along the way in learning about God's Kingdom and his will for us on this earth.
Today, let's learn and teach about God's kingdom, and find out how everything around us relates to Him. As we do, we will be more prepared for our callings and missions in life, and for finding our place in eternity.
