There are a lot of commandments and a lot of things to avoid, but perhaps one of the most important things that we can do to make ourselves, the world, and our relationships with God and others better is to learn to love as God does. His love is far above our selfish sort, which we often use to bargain or manipulate. God's love flows out to everyone... people we don't like or understand, people we look up to, people we look down on, sinners striving to be better, and even sinners not really striving at all. He asks us to love all people, to see in them the spark of greatness, and to cultivate it and help them to become more than they are... and he wants the same for us.
Today, let's pray to be filled with love, and when God helps us to feel it, let's act on it, rather than stifling it with our biases and judgements. Let's reach out to those around us and lift them up and love them extravagantly, as though our love will never run out... because it won't, and can't, if God is the source. Let's live well and keep loving, so that His love can dwell in our hearts always.
