"But behold, I, Jacob, would speak unto you that are pure in heart. Look unto God with firmness of mind, and pray unto him with exceeding faith, and he will console you in your afflictions, and he will plead your cause, and send down justice upon those who seek your destruction.
O all ye that are pure in heart, lift up your heads and receive the pleasing word of God, and feast upon his love; for ye may, if your minds are firm, forever."
Jacob 3:1-2
After these two verses it starts talking about what happens if you aren't pure in heart, which doesn't seem quite as cool, so I wanted to focus here.
I like the idea of a firm mind... that we need to be strong and steadfast in our belief and our dedication to God, and not eternally wishy-washy. Not saying that we can never doubt. Some of that is normal and learning how to work through that is important, but if we never work through any of it, then we end up going backwards.
Today, let's work on our firmness of mind... let's examine what is holding us back from a stronger committment to God, and what it will take to move forward and improve, and then let's talk to God about that, and start working on that way forward. :)
