"Many shall be purified, and made white, and tried; but the wicked shall do wickedly: and none of the wicked shall understand; but the wise shall understand."
Daniel 12:10
This chapter is about the last days (our time), and it predicts a time of trouble "such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time" (verse 1). Our selection is towards the end of the chapter, with Daniel wondering how things would work out. And God doesn't tell him, but he does say this. I think in a small way, we can understand this to mean that the wicked and the righteous will both be running around and doing things... but that the righteous people will be focused on learning (gaining wisdom, not just knowledge), and becoming better (symbolically clean, as represented by the repentance, and the temple). So in the distinction between groups of people here, let's work on being part of the group that the Lord says will understand. Let's work on learning the things of God, and applying those things to our lives with God's help. Let's ask for wisdom and understanding, and work to be more pure, and to learn the lessons that God gives us through trials.
