"And it came to pass that I spake unto my brethren, saying: Let us go up again unto Jerusalem, and let us be faithful in keeping the commandments of the Lord; for behold he is mightier than all the earth, then why not mightier than Laban and his fifty, yea, or even than his tens of thousands?"
1 Nephi 4:1
Having read the story of David and Goliath recently, I see a lot of parallels here, as this is on the way to Nephi slaying Laban to accomplish the Lord's will. And I'm astounded by the faith in both cases, that the Lord could do great things, and that he would do them.
Our lives seem to be a little bit more like the Nephi example, where they tried many times and failed, and yet Nephi still had faith. God had commanded them to do it, so he would provide a way. I think this is incredibly hard sometimes, to keep that faith and hope when we have seen a pattern of failure. But I also think that is one of the reasons that we are asked to become like little children. They have an incredible capacity to believe in us, as adults, even when we have disappointed them in the past. They can believe life is good even when things are not ideal. And so can we, if we tune in to our inner child (in a good way). :)
Today, let's pray and ask for help and faith and humility and simple trust, and let's know in our souls that God will deliver us, and help us to do as he asks. It might not be the first time we try, or even after years in some cases (thinking of the woman with an issue of blood)... but the miracle and the deliverance DOES come, soon or late, in God's time. As we trust Him and live His way, we will find happiness and peace, even while waiting for deliverance or a way forward.
