John 9:1-3 -- On the Works of God

"And as Jesus passed by, he saw a man which was blind from his birth.
And his disciples asked him, saying, Master, who did sin, this man, or his parents, that he was born blind?
Jesus answered, Neither hath this man sinned, nor his parents: but that the works of God should be made manifest in him."
John 9:1-3

I've thought about this for a while I think... wondering if someone had to go through their life blind just so Christ could do a miracle, but now I think that the miracle was just a small part of what Christ was explaining here. That was part of it for sure, but we have challenges in our lives, not because we have sinned, but because God wants other people to see our light. We are evidence, all of us, of God's work. We're his children and the manifestation of everything that he is. Our challenges give us a chance to choose, to overcome, to thrive and succeed where lack of obstacles would push us nowhere. Today, let's live in a way that the works of God can be manifest in us.
