Helaman 5:12 -- On Keeping our Cool

"And now, my sons, remember, remember that it is upon the rock of our Redeemer, who is Christ, the Son of God, that ye must build your foundation; that when the devil shall send forth his mighty winds, yea, his shafts in the whirlwind, yea, when all his hail and his mighty storm shall beat upon you, it shall have no power over you to drag you down to the gulf of misery and endless wo, because of the rock upon which ye are built, which is a sure foundation, a foundation whereon if men build they cannot fall."
Helaman 5:12

Some days it seems like we can't win... people are pushing our buttons, and we can't seem to not react, or stay calm, or find a balance... and this scripture seems to have the cure. :) That foundation in Christ makes it so that nothing at all can drag us down... nothing can dent the cool. I think it is significant that he says "remember" twice here... the dents and cracks come when we forget, even for a minute, and lose that unshakable foundation. Like Peter, walking on the water. He was doing it... he could do it. But he forgot for a minute where he strength was, and where his cool came from. Today, let's work on remembering Christ. I'm hypothesizing based on this verse that if we can keep him in our thoughts all day, that nothing can touch our cool. Let's try it. :)

  1. He who drinks deeply of the waters of life cannot help but be full of the light of Christ. Fill your mind with the scriptures. As you do so overtime, you will have the mind and disposition of Christ. Your entire being will be changed and become a peace loving creature.
