"Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.
And ye will not come to me, that ye might have life.
I receive not honour from men.
But I know you, that ye have not the love of God in you.
I am come in my Father’s name, and ye receive me not: if another shall come in his own name, him ye will receive.
How can ye believe, which receive honour one of another, and seek not the honour that cometh from God only?"
John 5:39-44
I love the advice to search the scriptures, even though I think it was being used ironically here for people who trusted in the scriptures and didn't understand them. So, good advice to search the scriptures and learn about Christ, so that we *can* go to him and have life. So that we can have the love of God in us, and so that we can recieve Christ in our lives. Today, let's seek the honor that comes from God only, rather than earthly honor. Let's remember what truly matters and studiously deconstruct whatever barriers that we have built up in our lives that separate us from God.
