"Do not pray as the Zoramites do, for ye have seen that they pray to be heard of men, and to be praised for their wisdom.
Do not say: O God, I thank thee that we are better than our brethren; but rather say: O Lord, forgive my unworthiness, and remember my brethren in mercy—yea, acknowledge your unworthiness before God at all times."
Alma 38:13-14
I like this emphasis on humility, remembering that we are always unworthy compared to God, and that we shouldn't be out there seeking praise, but rather seeking forgiveness and the welfare of others. It isn't necessarily easy, of course, because we often crave approval, and want to feel loved and appreciated, so it's hard sometimes to admit our faults and failures. With God though, we can trust that while he sees our flaws, he always still loves us. He can help us grow and improve and become better than we now are. Today, let's trust him with our unworthiness and insecurities, and ask him for help... he wants to help us, and he loves us and appreciates our efforts to improve, and will bless us as we strive to walk his path. :)
