"Then cometh Jesus from Galilee to Jordan unto John, to be baptized of him.
But John forbad him, saying, I have need to be baptized of thee, and comest thou to me?
And Jesus answering said unto him, Suffer it to be so now: for thus it becometh us to fulfil all righteousness. Then he suffered him."
Matthew 3:13-15
I like that Christ reassures John about this... acknowledges that it is a little awkward, but still important to do. Baptising a sinless man? Silly. Surely it should be an exception. But Christ shows us that sometimes we should do it anyway as a way of marking the path or setting an example for others. God's gospel *is* for everyone, and it works as we apply it in our lives. Let's remember the example of Christ and let go of our rebellion at the exceptions in life, instead trying to live by the Spirit and find out how we fit into God's plan. All of us do, even though we might have to drop some of our burdens to make it work. :)
