"Say ye not, A confederacy, to all them to whom this people shall say, A confederacy; neither fear ye their fear, nor be afraid.
Sanctify the Lord of hosts himself; and let him be your fear, and let him be your dread.
And he shall be for a sanctuary; but for a stone of stumbling and for a rock of offence to both the houses of Israel, for a gin and for a snare to the inhabitants of Jerusalem."
Isaiah 8:12-14
I like the part about not believing rumors, and focusing on and trusting the Lord, but even more I like the second part about God being both a sanctuary and a stone of stumbling... and I think that is in how we approach Him. If we go to God, trusting him and seeking refuge, we will find it... but if we instead approach God to pick a fight, we can find that as well. God will always try to teach us, but often we're just shouting and not listening... and when we're not paying attention like that, we're bound to stumble.
Today, let's approach God for help and protection, in humility. As we do, he will teach us and help us find a better path, as well as a greater measure of comfort and joy. :)
