"Now ye may suppose that this is foolishness in me; but behold I say unto you, that by small and simple things are great things brought to pass; and small means in many instances doth confound the wise.
And the Lord God doth work by means to bring about his great and eternal purposes; and by very small means the Lord doth cconfound the wise and bringeth about the salvation of many souls."
Alma 37:6-7
I like this idea that small things make a difference. I think sometimes we give up on things because we think we can't make a difference... mostly because we are thinking of something dramatic and immediate. But God only does the really dramatic flood, or parting-the-sea thing once in a while. The rest of the time it is the quiet, persistent efforts of many working towards his goals.
In our lives too... the biggest things in the end start out as small habits, but compunded over time they are life-changing transformations. Prayer and scripture study are like that... small things that make a world of difference if we commit and keep it up.
Today, let's work at the small things that can transform us for the better, and change the world one small step at a time.
