"And Jesus, when he had found a young ass, sat thereon; as it is written,
Fear not, daughter of Sion: behold, thy King cometh, sitting on an ass’s colt.
These things understood not his disciples at the first: but when Jesus was glorified, then remembered they that these things were written of him, and that they had done these things unto him."
John 12:14-16
The disciples here didn't know in the moment that scripture was being fulfilled, and that they were witnessing what so many prophets had foretold. Later though, they realized, and connected the dots, and wrote it down. Likewise, I think that there are times in our own lives that we don't understand fully until we look back (not in a Lot's Wife way, wanting to go back and away from God, but in a hindsight way, just using the past to learn from).
Today, let's look back on our lives and pay attention to God's hand in our lives... the times when he stepped in and changed our direction. I know that there are many times in my life where I had a strong feeling that I needed to do something, or not do something, and I didn't always realize that was the Lord, or even know that I knew how to recognize the spirit as something different from my own thoughts, and yet it was there, watching out for me, and teaching me the way that I should go.
Let's look back and be grateful for God's guidance and blessings... and then move forward with confidence, knowing and trusting that God will step in and help us, always, when we need it.
