"For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit;
To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit;
To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues:
But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will."
1 Corinthians 12:8-11
I like the idea here that the Spirit of God grants us gifts, and I also like the idea that they are attached to that Spirit and that we can lose our talents/gifts when we withdraw from God and his Spirit. Unlike so many other kinds of power, real and fictional, God's power can't be used for evil. It starts fading away if we don't use it and nurture the gifts that God has given us. Today, let's take that seriously and work with God to learn and develop our gifts.
