2 Nephi 15:11-13 -- On Captivity, Starvation, and Spiritual Heath and Freedom

"Wo unto them that rise up early in the morning, that they may follow strong drink, that continue until night, and wine inflame them!
And the harp, and the viol, the tabret, and pipe, and wine are in their feasts; but they regard not the work of the Lord, neither consider the operation of his hands.
Therefore, my people are gone into captivity, because they have no knowledge; and their honorable men are famished, and their multitude dried up with thirst."
2 Nephi 15:11-13

The idea of sin as captivity here isn't new, but it's not usually the way we think about our own habits / addictions / sins, and maybe we should think about that more, because I think we place ourselves in captivity and also starve ourselves spiritually when we focus just on physical desires or feelings rather than our spiritual selves. Today, let's regard the work of the Lord, and consider the operation of his hands. Let's learn from him, and let him fill us with the spiritual knowledge and guidance that we need to avoid spiritual starvation and the kind of captivity that comes when we lock ourselves into bad habits.
