D&C 88:63-65 -- On Watching What We Want

"Draw near unto me and I will draw near unto you; seek me diligently and ye shall find me; ask, and ye shall receive; knock, and it shall be opened unto you.
Whatsoever ye ask the Father in my name it shall be given unto you, that is expedient for you;
And if ye ask anything that is not expedient for you, it shall turn unto your condemnation."
Doctrine and Covenants 88:63-65

This is a good thing to keep in mind--the idea that we should be careful what we ask for. If we ask for something bad for us, we might get it, and that could harm us. That's why part of the whole gospel idea is knowing and understanding God and his purposes for us. He knows who we are, but also who we can be, and he can help us reach for that better self, rather than us giving up and abandoning ourselves to our bad sides.

Today, let's draw near to God, welcoming his presence and voice in our lives, and seeking his advice. Let's ask for things that will help us and the world around us, and not ask for things that will make things worse.
