Leviticus 6:2-4 -- On Making Things Right

"If a soul sin, and commit a trespass against the Lord, and lie unto his neighbour in that which was delivered him to keep, or in fellowship, or in a thing taken away by violence, or hath deceived his neighbour; Or have found that which was lost, and lieth concerning it, and sweareth falsely; in any of all these that a man doeth, sinning therein: Then it shall be, because he hath sinned, and is guilty, that he shall restore that which he took violently away, or the thing which he hath deceitfully gotten, or that which was delivered him to keep, or the lost thing which he found,"
Leviticus 6:2-4

I like the idea here of making things right after we are in the wrong. This is part of the old law which Christ fulfilled, so it doesn't have to be followed to the letter anymore, but the same idea of repentance remains. We usually have to figure out for ourselves, in concert wtih God, what we should do to make up for our mistakes, but often it is similar... we have to do what we can to make up for our mistakes. It isn't always possible, feasible, or wise in our individual circumstances, but healing where we have harmed is still a good ideal.

Today, let's think about repentance and what we can do to fix our mistakes, and how to change into better people. Where we can't fix our mistakes, God will make up for it, of course, but the efforts we make can help improve human relationships, our relationship with God, and also soothe our own consciences, as well as injecting a bit of humility, which we need sometimes, so we don't keep making the same mistakes over and over again. :)
