1 Corinthians 10:10-12 -- On Spirit and Will

"To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues: But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will. For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also is Christ."
1 Corinthians 10:10-12

What struck me today was the phrase "as he will" ... which I think I have always interpreted before as God's will or the Spirit's will, but today it seemed to be our will... each person's will. ... Since God treats us like people and not just numbers, it makes sense to me that how the Spirit works in our lives could be tailored a little bit to us, and what we want. Not above God's will of course, just part of the algorithm perhaps. :)

Bolstering this idea is that God asks us to seek the best gifts, and he says that if we knock he will open... so whatever we are going after, if it is good (and also God's will), that is what he delights to give us.

Today, let's remember that we shouldn't sit back and wait for God to shower us with abundance, but instead to be out there, seeking good. As we do, God will help us find it. :)
