"And it came to pass that Ether did prophesy great and marvelous things unto the people, which they did not believe, because they saw them not."
Ether 12:5
I think we fall into this trap sometimes, not just with prophecy, but with everything. We focus on what is right in front of us and we can't visualize anything beyond immediate, short-term wants and needs. Part of God's promise to us is his help with seeing longer-term, so that we can plan for eternity, and "hope for those things which [we] have not seen" (Ether 12:8).
Today, let's look farther, and think Celestial... seeing farther than our own site allows, by trusting God and his prophets. If we look to God and move forward, we can access a future that promises far more than we can see in our extreme shortsightedness. God gives us the gift of his sight, if we walk his path and listen to his advice.
