"And it came to pass that the king was pacified towards his people; and he said unto them: Let us go forth to meet my people, without arms; and I swear unto you with an oath that my people shall not slay thy people."

The whole idea of meeting an incoming army without weapons seems kind of scary/dangerous, but I like that they did it and it worked, and the whole idea of confronting aggression with peace. I think this works with individuals as well as armies. Sometimes a soft answer really does turn away wrath. We don't have to meet violence with violence.
Today as we meeting challenging situations, let's meet them with peace, and see if we can turn them around. As we look to God in our lives, the better ways to deal with things will get clearer.
