Jonah 4:6 -- On Comfort

"And the Lord God prepared a gourd, and made it to come up over Jonah, that it might be a shadow over his head, to deliver him from his grief. So Jonah was exceeding glad of the gourd."
Jonah 4:6

I think it is cool that God did this for Jonah even while Jonah was mad at him. Later he turned it into a lesson, perhaps when Jonah was more ready to listen, but for the moment, he just comforted him with some shade. I think God does this for all of us at times. He provides us some temporary comfort even if we're causing our own distress... to help us through it, and saves the lesson for tomorrow. The lessons need to come, so that we can learn to change and grow into better people, but God loves us deeply and knows that we also need some time to work through it all.

Today, let's be thankful for his comfort and help.
