"Honour the Lord with thy substance, and with the firstfruits of all thine increase:
So shall thy barns be filled with plenty, and thy presses shall burst out with new wine."
Proverbs 3:9-10
This is another way to tell us that if we put the Lord first, then everything else will be added to us, but I like the specifics about being provided for in a material way, because we offer a material offering to God.
This is similar to what God commanded from the beginning, an offering given to him to help us to remember him, and also to point us to the offering of Christ for our sins.
Today, let's remember to look to God and honor him with our substance as well as in other ways. Let's pay our tithing, but also make sure we are using what we have to build his kingdom and to help others... looking to God in everything and being aware of what he is asking us to do, not just in going to church. :)
