2 Kings 14:26-27 -- On Timing

"For the Lord saw the affliction of Israel, that it was very bitter: for there was not any shut up, nor any left, nor any helper for Israel.
And the Lord said not that he would blot out the name of Israel from under heaven: but he saved them by the hand of Jeroboam the son of Joash."
2 Kings 14:26-27

Just as we often ask why bad things happen to good people, we also ask what these verses suggest... why do good things happen to bad people? And these verses and the context of these verses offer some good information in that regard.

The Lord didn't wipe out this line of kings, even though they were evil, because he had promised, but also because he had something in store for them in later generations. And I think that is the answer to most of the questions we have in this regard. There is very little instant retribution in this life becuase things have to play out both to give us all a change to learn, repent, and change... but also because we can't see all the repercussions of every choice, and God can.

Today, let's trust the Lord and his timing, knowing that he has a better perspective than we do, and that he is leading us to everything good.
